Coping With Adult Acne
Defined Tag: Adult Acne. Acne has always been perceived as a teenage problem when in actual fact; adult Acne can be as big a scourge in people’s lives. Adult acne can affect 25% of adult men and 50% of adult women at some point in their adult lives, so it’s a big problem to many people. Skin problems at best can be a massive problem, but someone suffering from adult acne run the risk of suffering huge emotional problems with very real risks of suffering psychological problems. We live in a very visual society and place great emphasis on the way we look. So treating people with adult acne should be done with sensitivity and empathy. Since adult acne is a chronic condition, it’s important to follow a regular programme of preventative measures to ensure the skin is kept as clean and free from skin oil as possible. This can be achieved by simple preventative measures such as using a very soft face cloth which is kept for the use of the adult acne sufferer only. It should also be kept very clean. The hands can also be used if wash cloths are disliked. Soft soaps such as Dove or Neutrogena are specially designed for sensitive skin, and most adult acne sufferers should be able to use them without problem. Antibacterial lotions can be used by adult acne sufferers to ensure new blemishes, spots and pimples are kept to a minimum. Also there is now a wide range of extremely good makeup which helps disguise any problem blemishes. Adult acne sufferers should also ensure their hands are kept as clean as possible, so if they do inadvertently touch their face, they are reducing the risk of contamination and a breakout of spots. Stress management is also a good way of dealing with breakouts for adult acne sufferers. Stress is thought to be by some people a major factor in acne breakouts. So controlling the risk factors within that stress and recognising the trigger factors helps to reduce the risk of a full blown breakout of spots, zits and pimples. If adult acne sufferers find their acne problem is getting worse, they shouldn’t try and fight it alone. A good dermatologist is worth his weight in gold, and will offer plenty of excellent advice and treatment if it is needed.
