So you think acne problems happen just overnight? No! You are wrong, acne is not something that just happens overnight. In most cases, it could happen any place from several weeks to several days. And you thought that your skin's condition is in the best shape possible to avoid acne problems from attacking to you? No! Wrong again.

American Academy of Dermatology has revealed that having a clear, blemish-free complexion should no longer be considered vanity. Acne problem has become the most common skin disorder affecting some 20 million people worldwide. Many individuals will find themselves wondering what to do now that they have acne, but before you get it, you can do much to stop it from happening.

The skin is the prime location for bacteria to find a home. If you make sure that it is not a welcoming spot, your skin will appreciate it and you will not worry every time you look into the mirror. Those who have oily skin are more prone to pimple or acne which is why proper acne care must be exercised. Acne, when mishandled or mistreated, will develop to more serious problems like embarrassing scars that are oftentimes difficult to treat. Here are several tips to prevent acne from infesting your face.

· Use antibacterial soaps when washing your face as this is the best acne prevention when it comes to preventing bacteria from growing on your face. Make sure to wash your face twice per day, in the morning and in the evening before bed. Try also to use products that are "non-comedogenic" as these do not clog the pores that may cause irritation to the skin.

· Use acne medications to help you in prevention. These are over the counter cleansing products that can help to wash away debris, kill off bacteria and keep up the excessive oils on your face. Try buying benzoyl peroxide lotion to keep blemishes at bay.

· Exercise, eat right and stay stress free. These things do play a role in your body's ability to fight against the bacteria hitting your skin. If you eat a high-fiber, low-fat diet you are less likely to have problems with acne. Also drink six to eight glasses of water a day. Water is important for the health of your skin. Provide your body with what it needs to get rid of it faster and you will see better results all around.

· Exfoliate. Here too you can improve your skin's appearance long before it is hurt by acne by simply using exfoliating products. These will help you to strip the bacteria from the face and will also help in removing the dead skin cells that are blocking your pores. Over the counter products can help here too. However do not use greasy lotions and cosmetics as they contain oils that can promote acne.

· Avoid self-medication if you skin problem is very serious. Consult a dermatologist and follow their advice. Remember that a dermatologist has less of a vested reason to guide your skin care program unlike the woman working behind a cosmetics counter.

Prevention is the definitely best medicine when it comes to your face, your skin and acne. With proper care and diet, you can prevent the worst types of acne from afflicting you.
